Funeral services were held at the Soldier Lutheran Church Monday, March 23 at 2:00 o’clock. Pastor John Kilde gave the sermon. Interment was in the Jordan Cemetery. Sigurd Navrude, son of the late Swen and Sophie Navrude, was born October 12, 1902 on a farm near Soldier where he grew to manhood. He attended rural school and was baptized and confirmed in the Lutheran Church. In 1934 he was united in marriage to Henrietta Stoll. To this union six children were born. One son, Harlan, died in infancy. He farmed in the Soldier community until 1941, then moved to a farm north of Woodbine where he resided at the time of his death. On Monday evening, March 16, he suffered a cerebral hemorrhage and was taken to the Onawa hospital where he passed away after a two-day illness at 4:00 p.m. Thursday, March 19. He was 50 years, 5 months and 7 days old at the time of his death. Surviving are his wife and five children: Harold, Norman, Delbert, Marlene, and Harry; three sisters, Emma, Inga and Hannah all of Soldier, and three brothers, Andrew and Alvin of Soldier and Oscar of Dunlap, and a host of other relatives and friends.
