Archie was born at Soldier and after farming for many years moved into town and for the past several years has operated the Blacksmith shop. He has for several years also looked after the town water system. He was a very handy person and will be missed in the community. Funeral services were held at the Christian Church in Moorhead Wednesday at 2:00 p.m. Rev. Orin Dyer gave the sermon. Magnus Jepson was soloist and sang “Old Rugged Cross” and “I Come To The Garden Alone”. He was accompanied by Mrs. Jepson. Mrs. Wayne Outhouse was organist. Burial was in St. Clair cemetery at Ute under the direction of Pearson Funeral Homes of Soldier. Pallbearers were Ronald Meadows, Elmer Torgerson, Jim Gregerson, Ralph Oldham, Martin Torgerson and Dennis Meadows. Archie Oliver Nelson, son of Mr. and Mrs. Ole C. Nelson, was born at Soldier, Iowa August 1, 1888. He passed away at the Denison hospital December 18, 1961 at the age of 73 years 4 months and 17 days. He was united in marriage to Lena Dickinson on August 24, 1912 and to this union two children were born. His wife died on March 7, 1949 and on August 13, 1951 he was married to Josephine Kelley Robinson. Surviving are the widow; one daughter, Mrs. Cecil (Delores) Meadows of Ute, one son, Omar Nelson of Soldier; one sister, Mrs. Julia Norby of Soldier; one stepson, Oliver Kelley of Onawa and a stepdaughter Mrs. Florence Kuhl of Atlantic, besides several grandchildren and other relatives and a host of friends.
