Carl J. Nelson, 82
Died in Fergus Falls                          (From the collection of Vivian

	Carl J. Nelson, of this city, died at Lake Region Hospital Friday 
evening, Oct. 15, at age 82.  He was born August 1, 1883 in Oscar Township to 
Mr. and Mrs. Nils Nelson and married Alma Carlson in 1935.  She died in 1938 
and in 1945 he married Mildred C. Norby.  Mr. Nelson lived on the home farm 
until his retirement.
	He was preceded in death by his parents and a daughter, Carol, who 
died in 1947.
	Survivors include his widow; two daughters, Marlene and Rosella; a 
sister, Caroline and a cousin, J. P. Johnson of New Windsor, Ill.
	Mr. Nelson was active on school and township boards, and was a 
lifelong member of Augustana Lutheran Church, Elizabeth, where he served as 
treasurer and later as financial secretary for about 40 years.
	He had been ill most of 1965, first with arthritis and then with 
several strokes.
	Funeral services will be Tuesday afternoon, Oct. 19, at 2 p.m. at the 
Augustana Lutheran Church, Elizabeth, with Rev. Arnold Swanson officiating.
	Friend may call at the Glen-de-Johnson Funeral Home.

Mildred was dau of Martin G. Norby, brother to Gunerius Norby
That family settled in Minnesota
