Chris had been in ill health for about a year suffering from a heart condition. Mr. Nelson spent his lifetime in farming, having lived on the same farm for 58 years. He retired in the years 1951 and moved to Onawa. Up until two years ago he did part time work for others. He attended the Congregational church in Onawa. During his years in Jordan township he held many township offices and always took a big interest in the community in which he lived. He married Anna Nelson of Castana on February 14, 1924 and to this union one daughter, Betty, was born. Preceding him in death were two sisters who died in infancy and his parents. He leaves to mourn his passing, his widow, Anna, one daughter, Betty Boehme of South Sioux City, Neb., two granddaughters, one step-granddaughter, one brother, John of Sioux City and a host of neighbors and friends. Services were held Tuesday, Sept. 21 at the Congregational church in Onawa. Rev. frank Perry and Rev. E. E. Epperson conducted the service. Mrs. Willie Jensen sang “In The Garden” and “Just a Closer Walk With Thee”, accompanied by Mrs. Oliver Kelley. Casket bearers were Walter and Edward Hadden, Walter Croy, Oscar Foss, Jesse Chedester and Oscar Larson. Interment was in Jordan cemetery with arrangements by Pearson Funeral Home.
