Although she had not been in good health for some time, her death came quite unexpectedly and only a few days after a number of her friends had helped her celebrate her 85th birthday which was August 22. Miss Norby was born in Soldier and was a seamstress for many years. Funeral services were held at Soldier Lutheran Church Saturday, September 3 with Pastor Maynard Moen in charge. Burial was in Soldier Valley Cemetery under the direction of Pearson Funeral Home of Soldier. Mrs. Bryce Lee sang “Beyond The Sunset” and “No Night There”, accompanied by Miss Janice Olson at the organ. Pallbearers were Clifford Amunson, Lowell Amunson, Stanley Holt, Harry Longlee, Oscar Foss and Art Olson Emily Norby, daughter of Chris and Olena Norby, was born at Soldier, Iowa August 22, 1875 and passed away at the Sloan nursing home September 2, 1960 at the age of 85 years and 12 days. She lived in soldier all her life and was a seamstress by trade. She was a member of Soldier Lutheran Church. She is survived by one sister, Mrs. Hilda Ness. Preceding her in death were her parents, two brothers, Martin and Ole Norby and one sister, Mrs. James McGee.
