NORBY (From the collection of Vivian Norby Andersen) SOLDIER, Ia. – Special: Ole G. Norby, 85, died Tuesday at an Onawa, Ia. Hospital following a brief illness. Mr. Norby was born July 20, 1874, at Urskog Norway. He came to the United States with his parents at the age of five, settling in Moorhead, Ia., where he lived and farmed until retiring in 1920. He moved to Soldier in 1920. He married Ada Wingate January 4, 1911 at Soldier. Mr. Norby was a member of the Lutheran church. Survivors include the widow; two daughters, Mrs. Caryl Middleton of Cedar Falls, Ia., and Mrs. Harry Andersen of Soldier; two brothers, Edwin of Little Sioux, Ia., and Henry of Soldier; two sisters, Mrs. Chris Rustin of Soldier and Mrs. Oscar Larson of Dunlap, Ia., and five grandchildren. Funeral services for Mr. Norby will be at 2 p.m. Friday at the Lutheran church in Soldier. Rev. Maynard Moen will officiate. Burial will be in Soldier Valley cemetery, with the Pearson funeral home in charge of arrangements.
