Norby, one of the outstanding citizens of Ashby, Minnesota, passed away at St. Luke’s hospital at Fergus Falls, January 30, following an operation for ruptured ulcers. Mr. Norby was born at Soldier, Iowa, September 3, 1881, and was at the time of his death 53 years of age. He was baptized and confirmed in the Lutheran Church at this place. He was married to Miss Carrie Anderson of Mapleton, on March 26, 1906 and resided on a farm south of Soldier until the fall of 1913, at which time they moved to Minnesota, locating near Ashby, which has since been the family home. Besides his wife, Mr. Norby is survived by three children, a daughter, Mabel, who is a registered nurse at St. Luke’s hospital, Walter, who attends Fargo Business College, and Gordon at home; one brother, Martin residing at Battle Lake, Minnesota, and three brothers and two sisters, Ole Edwin, Henry, Julia and Elma of Soldier and Hilda of Rolfe, Iowa. Mr. Norby was a director for the Co-Operative Creamery and vice- president of the Farmers Equity Store at Ashby. His death is deeply mourned by his family and many friends. Funeral services were Saturday afternoon at 2 o’clock in the Norwegian Lutheran Church near Ashby. The large attendance at the funeral and the beautiful floral offerings proved the high esteem in which Mr. Norby was held by his fellow citizens.
