She was a lifelong resident of the Soldier community, having been born here. She was a member of Soldier Lutheran Church. Funeral services were held Monday, October 31 with a short service at the home at 1:30 and at Soldier Lutheran Church at 2:00. Pastor Maynard Moen gave the sermon. Mrs. Roger A. Wilson sang “In The Garden: and “The Old Rugged Cross”, with Miss Janice Olson at the organ. Interment was in Soldier Valley Cemetery under the direction of Pearson Funeral Home of Soldier. Pallbearers were Page Carlson, Donald Halverson, Maurice Graetz, Omar Nelson, Andy Ballantyne and Roy Severson. Selma Nordaker, daughter of Sever and Boleta Berg, was born at Soldier, Iowa, January 20, 1891 and died at the Lutheran hospital in Sioux City October 28, 1960. She was united in marriage to Alfred Nordaker at Gregory, S.D. on January 10, 1910. To this union three children were born. She was a member of Soldier Lutheran Church. Surviving are one daughter, Mrs. Ray (Alice) Baier and one son, Leo, both of Soldier; six sisters, Mrs. Oscar Tanberg and Mrs. John Nordaker of Soldier, Mrs. Aubrey Lester of Interior, S. D., Mrs. Anna Roach of Eugene, Oregon, Mrs. Johanna Kelley of Danbury and Mrs. Mayme Melby of Tacoma, Washington; one grandson. She was preceded in death by her husband in 1940, her parents, one son, Orlando, one brother, Hilmer, one sister, Alice, and a grandson, Tommy Baier.
