PIONEER OF CASTANA
PASSES AWAY                                     (From the collection of Vivian 
Norby Andersen)

	On Father’s Day, Jun3 20, 1976, the Castana community as well as a 
large extended family, lost a cherished member with the passing of Robert Van 
Buren Nutt.
	Robert, son of Jasper William and Elizabeth Capitola Nutt, was born 
October 1, 1888 on a farm east of Castana and died June 20, 1976, in the Maple 
Heights Nursing Home at Mapleton, Iowa.  
	On December 1, 1909, he took Betty Alice McCall for his lifetime 
partner.  They were the parents of five children.
	He was preceded in death by his parents, Jasper and Elizabeth Nutt, a 
sister, Minnie Block, three brothers, Charles, Wayne and Herman; and his two 
grandsons Rodger Lewis Nutt and Sonny Jensen.
	Survivors are his widow, Betty Nutt, five children, aunt Ida Carroll 
of Hermosa, S. D., thirteen grandchildren and nineteen great grandchildren.
