Although it had been known for some time that her condition was not good, the suddenness of her passing was a shock to her family and the entire community. She had spent several days in the hospital, but when she improved considerably she wanted to return to her home. Mrs. Oldham was active in many organizations and, like her husband, was fond of flowers. She will be greatly missed by her many friends. Funeral services were held at the Moorhead Christian Church Monday, September 9 at 2:00 p.m. Rev. Samuel Wall officiated. Mrs. Wayne Outhouse was organist. Elders of the church were ushers for the large turnout of relatives and friends. The many beautiful flowers were in charge of Fred Bell and Cloyce Beall. Interment was in the Jordan cemetery west of Soldier. Pallbearers were Omar Nelson, Olaf Olson, Page Carlson, Maurice Graetz, Roy Severson and John Wade. Pearson Funeral Home of Soldier was in charge of arrangements. Mabel Luellen Northrop, daughter of Rosa Ellen and Edwin Northrop, was born March 27, 1901 in Onawa, Iowa. She passed away at her home in Soldier, Iowa Friday, September 6th, 1963 at the age of 62 years. She was married to Ralph Oldham September 17, 1919 at Onawa. To this union were born two children, a son, Donald, who lives at Spartansburg, South Carolina and a daughter, Mrs. Betty Jane Gorham of Soldier. She is survived by her husband, her son and daughter, five grandchildren, three sisters, Mrs. Ruth Christensen and Mrs. Cleo Fenner of Donna, Texas and Mrs. Cora Crooker of Athens, Oregon, and one brother, Frank Northrop of Dallas, Texas. Her parents preceded her in death. Mrs. Oldham was a member of Moorhead Christian Church and of O. E.S. Chapter 586 of Moorhead. The sympathy and good will of her many friends and neighbors is extended to her loved ones in the bereavement.
