Services Held For
Otto Olson                                    (From the collection of Vivian 
Norby Andersen)

	Otto Christian Olson, son of Mary and Haakon Olson, was born at 
Soldier, Iowa November 11, 1897 and passed away at Council Bluffs on December 
7, 1961 at the age of 64 years and 26 days.
	He grew up in the Soldier community, leaving here in 1929 to make his 
home in Sioux City.  He later lived at Wayne and Lincoln, Nebraska and moved 
to Council Bluffs about a year ago.  He was baptized and confirmed in Soldier 
Lutheran Church and attended the Soldier school.
	He was united in marriage to Selma Benson at Yankton, S. D. on August 
9, 1922.  To this union two children were born.
	Surviving are the widow; two daughters, Mrs. Ethel Jean Everett of 
Highland, Indiana and Mrs. Wanda Samuelson of Tacoma, Washington, seven 
grandchildren; on sister, Mrs. Herman (Hilda) Hanson of Livermore, Calif.; 
four brothers, Victor of Onawa, Olius of Mapleton, Melvin of Daly City, Calif. 
And Hilman of Livermore, Calif., and a host of other relatives and friends.
	Funeral services were held at Soldier Lutheran Church Monday, Dec. 11 
at 2:00 o’clock with Pastor Maynard Moen officiating.  Mrs. Norman C. Hanson 
was soloist and sang “I Heard The Voice of Jesus Say” and “Abide With Me”.  
Mrs. Harry Andersen was organist.  Burial was in Soldier Valley Cemetery under 
the direction of Pearson Funeral Home of Soldier.  Casket bearers were Arnold 
Britton, Conrad Mathison, Roy Severson, Guy Hanson, William Lee and Any 
Swenson.
