Olson Dies Quite Suddenly (From the collection of Vivian Norby Andersen) Sigurd (Sig.) Olson died quite suddenly about 5:00 a.m. this Wednesday at the St. Joseph hospital in Sioux City where he had been taken Tuesday. His death came as a shock to relatives as he seemed improved Tuesday evening from a sort of paralysis of his legs which hit him suddenly while downtown Monday afternoon. Cause of his death is not known at this time but an autopsy was performed. Doctors said he had not suffered a stroke. Sig. was a familiar figure in the Soldier community where he was born and lived all his life. He was 60 years old. He was in business in Soldier for many years, having operated the garage and station now occupied by Pedersen Bros. and until a few months ago was in charge of the Sinclair station, now operated by Marvin Mauch. Sig. was a friendly person and seemed to enjoy his bachelor life. Sig. was a son of the late Mr. and Mrs. Arne Olson. He was baptized and confirmed in Soldier Lutheran Church and graduated from Soldier High School. Survivors include four sister, Belle (Mrs. Ray Dickinson), Inga (Mrs. Harry Hines), of Soldier, Dena (Mrs. Roy Outhouse) of Woodbine, and Tena (Mrs. Bill Murray) of Sioux City; six brothers, Ingvald, Carl, Olaf and Arthur of Soldier, Amund of Harrisburg, S. D. and Ole of Eldorado Springs, Mo. One sister, Annie, died at age of four years. Funeral services will be held at Soldier Lutheran Church Friday afternoon at 2:00 o’clock with Pastor Maynard Moen officiating. Burial will be in Soldier Valley cemetery.
