He had made his home at a Turin nursing home for some time prior to entering the hospital a few weeks ago. He was a lifelong resident of Monona county, having farmed most of his life in the Soldier vicinity. Funeral services were held at Soldier Luther Church Wednesday, October 5 with Pastor Harry Sorensen officiating. Mrs. Harry Andersen was organist. Mrs. Norman C. Hanson sang “Abide With Me” and Rock of Ages.” Interment was in St. Clair cemetery at Ute. Bearers were James Olson, Earl Howard, Lyle Outhouse, Lloyd Olson, Vernon Olson and Bernard Thoreson. Arrangements were made by Pearson Funeral Home of Soldier. Invald Olson was born November 28, 1888 at Soldier, Iowa a son of Arne and Dorothy Olson. He passed from this life at the Burgess Memorial Hospital in Onawa on Sunday, October 2, 1966 at the age of 77 years, 10 months and four days. He had been a resident in a nursing home for the past three years and in the hospital since September 6th. Ingvald had been a resident of the Soldier community most all his life and was a farmer until his retirement. He was a member of the Lutheran Church in Soldier. On October 12, 1915 he was united in marriage to Ella Bretthauer at Ute, Iowa. She preceded him in death in September 1935. He married Marie Lorey in 1944 and she passed away in 1947. On December 29, 1951 he was united in marriage to Effie Clemon at Onawa, Iowa. Mr. Olson is survived by his widow, Effie, one daughter, Mrs. Earl Pratt of Sioux City; two grandchildren; three stepsons, Gordon Clemon of Soldier, Glenn Clemon of Sioux City and James Clemon of Omaha; two stepdaughters, Mrs. Darrell Owens of Soldier and Mrs. Paul Hart of Coon Rapids; three brothers, Ole Olson in Missouri, Arthur and Olaf both of Soldier; three sisters, Mrs. Inga Hines of Soldier, Mrs. Roy Outhouse of Woodbine and Mrs. William Murray of Sioux City.
