She had been in the hospital for three days. Death came after several months of illness. She was born May 9, 1891 at Soldier, Iowa, a daughter of Holden and Anna Tanberg. Mrs. Olson had been a resident of the Castana community for the past 15 years and prior to that time had lived all her life in the Soldier community. On December 29, 1910 she was united in marriage to Silas Olson at Soldier. Mr. Olson died in 1957. Early in life she was baptized and confirmed in the Lutheran church at Soldier. Survivors include one son, Chester H. Olson of Sioux City; five daughters, Mrs. Robert Hilbert of Spokane, Washington, Mrs. Martin Petersen of Lancaster, Calif., Mrs. John Valentine of Edgar, Nebr., Mrs. Wilbur Kunze of Soldier and Mrs. Hans Albertson of Salix, Iowa; fourteen grandchildren and 10 great grandchildren; two brothers, Oscar Tanberg of Soldier and Chris Tanberg of Reno, Nevada; a number of other relatives and a host of friends, who also mourn her passing. The funeral service was held at 1:30 p.m. Friday, January 14 at the Soldier Lutheran Church. Pastor Harry C. Sorensen conducted the funeral service. A quartet of Mrs. Norman C. Hanson, Mrs. Wilbur Holtorf, Stanley Hansen and Dwayne Hanson sang “In The Garden” and “Rock of Ages”, accompanied by Mrs. Harry Andersen. The casket bearers were Bernard Thoreson, Virgil M. Olson, Dean Hagerdon, Vernon and Henry Kunze and Loren Olson.
