Peterson at Soldier Lutheran (south) Church Saturday, August 31 at 2:00 p.m. Rev. Harold E. Koehler of Moorhead officiated. Mrs. Bernard Berens sang “Going Down The Valley” and “Heaven Is My Home”, accompanied at the organ by Miss Margaret Evenson. Interment was in Soldier Valley cemetery under the direction of the Pearson Funeral Home of Soldier. Casket bearers were Park Moorhead, Martin Johnson, Oscar Navrude, Conrad Mathison, Chris T. Olson and Oscar Foss. Ole Marinus Peterson was born October 11, 1883 in Spring Valley Township, Monona county, Iowa, the sixth of seven children born to Ole and Olena Peterson. On March 7, 1906, he was married to the former Lena A. Swenson. To this union were born four children, three of whom died in infancy early in childhood. He was a lifelong resident of the Soldier community and and(sic) active member of the Soldier Lutheran Church. Mr. Peterson died Wednesday morning, August 28 at the Burgess Memorial Hospital at Onawa, having attained the age of 79 years, 10 months and 16 days. During his lifetime, Mr. Peterson was engaged in farming, except for a few years when he worked in the hardware at Moorhead. He also was lineman for the telephone company in Soldier and for many years served as caretaker of the Soldier Lutheran cemetery and janitor of the church. He was preceded in death by his parents, one brother, three sisters, one son and two daughters and one half-sister. He is survived by his widow; one daughter, Gilma (Mrs. Ivan Gibbs) of Soldier; one grandson, and two sisters, Olena (Mrs. S. A. Swenson) of Moorhead and Mrs. Nettie Sumner of Sioux City.
