He lived in Sioux City and moved to Schleswig, Iowa as a young man. He married Lucille Friedrichsen in 1939. He later married Marcella Kloepper. She died in 1979. Cecil worked in trucking along with farming in the Correctionville, Mondamin and Soldier, Iowa areas. He also served as the Star Route mail route carrier for 20 years. In 1992, he moved into Ute, Iowa. Those survivors left to cherish his memory include one daughter and her husband, Cindy and Joe Weed of Ute, Iowa; one son and his wife, Lyle and Janice Phillips also of Ute, Iowa; six grandchildren, Alan and Arlan Phillips and Courtney, Candice, Carmen and Colby Weed; two great grandchildren; one brother, Everett Krohnke of Crystal Lake, Oregon; and one half sister, Irene Johannsen of Schleswig, Iowa; along with other relatives, neighbors and good friends. Along with his wife, Marcella, Cecil was preceded in death by his mother, three grandchildren, one brother, Wayne, three half brother, Erhart, Walter and Jerry and one half sister, Violet Grell.
