  Gladys I. Phipps, 80, died Saturday, Feb. 22, 2003, at Burgess Health Center 
in Onawa.

Gladys was born June 26, 1922, near Soldier, Iowa, the daughter of Lewis and 
Grace (Riley) Leisinger.  
She married Earl Phipps on Dec. 20, 1938, in Onawa.  Earl passed away Feb. 13, 
1982, in Onawa.

Survivors include three daughters, Becky Wakehouse  of Onawa, Kathy Shelton, 
and Dona and her husband, Don Kelly, of Oklahoma City, Okla.; a son and his 
wife, Gary and Lenore Phipps of Blencoe, Iowa; nine grandchildren; nine great-
grandchildren; two brothers, Vernon "Pete Leisinger and his wife, Mariann, of 
Moville, Iowa, and Fred Leisinger of Mapleton, Iowa; two sisters and their 
husbands, Dorothy and Raymond Archer of Onawa and Dona and Marvin Larson of 
Ute, Iowa; and a brother-in-law, Dean Kohler of Paola, Kan.

In addition to her husband, she was also preceded in death by her parents; two 
sisters, Darlene Wacheldorf and Norma Kohler; and a son-in-law, Gary Wakehouse.
