E. Richards Called By Death Last Saturday Lizzie M. Wingate, daughter of Lars and Maria Wingate, was born in Norway on February 7, 1863, and passed away at her home in Wray, Colo., at 6:25 Sunday evening, April 8, 1934, at the age of 71 years, 2 months and one day. Death followed a long illness through which she had been a patient sufferer. With her parents she came to the United States when she was eleven years old, arriving in New York harbor on the Fourth of July. The family settled at Rockford, Illinois, and later moved to Dunlap, Ia., where she met and married Ernest E. Richards. Mr. and Mrs. Richards resided for a time at Ute, Soldier and Moorehead (sic), Ia., and then came to Wray, Colo., twenty-three years ago which place has since been the family home. Eight children were born into the home, three daughters and five sons. Two of the sons, Ray and Floyd, preceded their mother in death, as did the father, who passed away June 26, 1929. The children who survive their mother are Guy of Wray, Fay McElwain of Wray, Hazel Maxwell of Franklin, Neb., Flora McGinnis of Wray, Earl of Trenton, Neb., and Wynn of Wray. There are also seven grandchildren who are left with their parents to mourn the passing of a good woman and loyal mother. In addition to these, Mrs. Richards is survived by two brothers, Martin Wingate of Dunlap, Ia., and Holstein Wingate of Soldier, Ia., and a number of lesser relatives and friends. All of Mrs. Richards children, and all but one of her grandchildren were at her bedside when she answered her final summons. The deceased was united with the Lutheran church in her girlhood, and in 1901 became a member of the Christian church, in which faith she continued until her death. The funeral services were held Wednesday afternoon from the Christian Church in Wray at 2 o’clock with Rev. Clark Bower officiating. The remains were laid to rest beside the final resting place of her life’s companion in Grandview Cemetery.
