Mr. Rude suffered the stroke about two a.m. but it was some time before Mrs. Rude could get help as she was unable to contact the Ute telephone operator. She walked to the home of a neighbor and got assistance. The Rudes farmed the Red Brummer place several miles northeast of Soldier. Funeral services will be held this Friday, May 18 at 2:00 o’clock at Soldier Lutheran (south) Church. Pastor Maynard Moen will officiate. Mrs. Norman C. Hanson will be soloist and will sing “Does Jesus Care” and “Beyond The Sunset”. Mrs. Harry Andersen will be at the organ. Burial will be in Soldier Valley Cemetery under the direction of Pearson funeral home of Soldier. Pallbearers will be Arnold Britton, Roy Swain, Olaf Olson, Guy Harris, Andy Swenson and Norman C. Hanson. Conrad Rude, son of Ole and Mary Rude, was born in Jordan township August 9, 1898 and passed away at a Sioux City hospital May 15, 1962. He grew up in the Soldier community and spent his entire lifetime in this area. He was baptized and confirmed in Soldier Lutheran Church. On September 22, 1920 he was united in marriage to Olga Larson at Soldier, Iowa. Left to mourn his passing are the widow, four daughters, Helen (Mrs. Cleon Swain) of Fullerton, Calif., Anna Marie (Mrs. Clifford Thoreson) of Soldier, Alice (Mrs. Herbert Gosch) of Castana and Lavonna (Mrs. Floyd Leaver) of Sioux City; two sons, Wilbur and Clayton of Ute; 25 grandchildren; one brother, Andrew Rude of Hinton; five sisters, Esther Childs and Mable Bryceson of Moorhead, Anna Olson of Mapleton and Mildred Humes and Harriett Watson of Macomb, Ill.
