OBITUARY                            (From the collection of Vivian Norby 
Andersen)

	Hans Oscar Sandvold, son of Karie and Kristen Nelson Sandvold, was 
born February 2, 1884 at Jaren, Norway.  He passed away at his home in 
Moorhead April 26, 1955 at the age of 71 years, two months and 24 days.	
	He was baptized and confirmed in the Lutheran faith in Gran Church 
near his home in Norway.  In April, 1903 he left Norway to come to Moorhead.  
He was united in marriage to Carrie Matilda Rude on October 27, 1909.
	He is survived by his wife; three sons:  Claire and Olaf of Soldier, 
and Norris of Minneapolis, Minn.; three daughters:  Mrs. Opal Folsom of Onawa, 
Mrs. LaVonne Shull of Turin, and Mrs. Joyce Leaf of LaJolla, Calif.; two 
brothers:  Carl and Chris of Moorhead, and eight grandchildren.
	Mr. Sandvold was engaged in farming until 1952 at which time he moved 
from the Soldier community to Moorhead.  He was active in community affairs, 
having served as church trustee, on the board of education and the Jordan-
Soldier Valley Co-Operative Telephone Co.
	Funeral services were held at the Soldier Lutheran Church Friday, 
April 29 with Rev. J. C. Kilde and Rev. W. Thompson officiating.  Burial was 
in the Soldier Valley Cemetery, under the direction of the Oldham Funeral 
Home.  Pallbearers were Roy Severson, Guy Severson, George Lee, Edwin 
Erickson, Andy Ballantyne and Martin Kalskett.  Honorary pallbearers were Joe 
Sorenson, Elmer Eskelson, J. Ray Hubbard, Darrell Lawrenson, Oren Lee and 
Martin Johnson.
