	Odessa Genevieve (Hutcheson) Shaffer, 93, of Whiting, Iowa, formerly 
of Moorhead and Onawa, Iowa, died Monday, January 19, 1998, at Pleasant View 
Nursing Home in Whiting.
	She was born May 3, 1904, at Lebo, KS, the daughter of William Holmes 
Hutcheson and Hattie Emily (Diacon) Hutcheson.  She married Orlo M. Shaffer on 
August 16, 1936, at Moorhead.  Mr. Shaffer died April 16, 1997, in Onawa.
	
	Survivors include one daughter, Ethel Mae and her husband Loyle Kratz 
of Moorhead; two sons, Charles and his wife Donna Shaffer of Independence, MO 
and Richard and his wife, Paula Shaffer of Campbell, CA, eight grandchildren 
and sixteen great grandchildren.
	She was preceded in death by her parents; her husband, two 
granddaughters, Bonnie and Roxanne Shaffer; five brothers, Leslie, Fay, Henry, 
Warren, and Wayne; and four sisters, Mable, Pearle, Gertrude, and Sarah in 
infancy.
