MERLE  L.  SHAFFER						1993

	Merle L. Shaffer, 94, of Turin, Iowa, died Sunday, March 21, 1993, at 
Burgess Memorial Hospital in Onawa, Iowa.
	He was born April 9, 1898, at Irwin, Iowa, the son of Henry and Sarah 
(Rold) Shaffer.   On February 23, 1939, he married Ingrid Madsen Jordan at Ida 
Grove, Iowa.  
	
	Survivors include:  his wife, Ingrid; a daughter and her husband, Red 
Wing, MN; two sons and their wives, all of Turin; a brother and his wife, Orlo 
and Odessa Shaffer of Onawa; two sisters-in-law, Mabel Shaffer and Jessie 
Shaffer, both of Onawa; four grandchildren; three step grandchildren; and two 
step great grandchildren.
	He was preceded in death by his parents, three brothers, Loyal, Ted 
and Cyril, and two sisters, Millie Harris and Gladys Shaffer.
