	Merle L. Shaffer, 94, of Turin, Iowa, died Sunday, March 21, 1993, at 
Burgess Memorial Hospital in Onawa, Iowa.
	He was born April 9, 1898, at Irwin, Iowa, the son of Henry and Sarah 
(Rold) Shaffer.   On February 23, 1939, he married Ingrid Madsen Jordan at Ida 
Grove, Iowa.  
	
	Survivors include:  his wife, Ingrid; a daughter and her husband, 
Karen and Sheldon Zimmerman, Red Wing, MN; two sons and their wives, Jack and 
Ruth Jordan and Fran and Judi Jordan, all of Turin; a brother and his wife, 
Orlo and Odessa Shaffer of Onawa; two sisters-in-law, Mabel Shaffer and Jessie 
Shaffer, both of Onawa; four grandchildren, Jim Jordan, Scott Jordan, Shane 
Jordan, and Joshua Zimmerman; three step grandchildren, John and Eric 
Zimmerman and Ann Begin; and two step great grandchildren, Sarah Ann Begin and 
Ashli Kate Zimmerman.
	He was preceded in death by his parents, three brothers, Loyal, Ted 
and Cyril, and two sisters, Millie Harris and Gladys Shaffer.
