Funeral services were held at the First Christian Church in Onawa Tuesday with Rev. Everett Epperson officiating. Mrs. Norman C. Hanson sang “Beyond The Sunset”, accompanied at the organ by Miss Connie Johnson. Interment was in Harrison Cemetery at Whiting under the direction of Pearson Funeral Home. Casket bearers were Everett Davis, Lowell Struble, Howard Davis, Lyle Rose, and Mac and Rudy Roe. Gladys Olive Sisson, daughter of William H. and Nellie Davis, was born July 4, 1901 near Castana and passed from this life in the Burgess Memorial Hospital in Onawa o Sunday, June 27, 1965. Death came following a long illness. She had reached the age of 63 years, 11 months and 23 days. She spent most of her lifetime in Monona county, the last ten and a half years southeast of Soldier. On November 29, 1922 she was united in marriage to Doyle Sisson at Onawa. Mrs. Sisson had made her confession of faith and was affiliated with the First Christian Church at Onawa. She was a fine woman, a kind and loving wife and mother and a true friend. Her passing will be deeply felt by all who knew her. Survivors include the widower; three daughters, Mrs. Wayne (Audrey) Meier of Battle Creek, Mrs. Wilmer (Jannette) Knutson Jr. and Miss Cleta Sisson, both of Soldier; one son, Gayle Sisson of Palmer, Iowa; four sisters, Mrs. Ethel Struble and Mrs. Lawrence Roe of Des Moines, Mrs. Carl Kuhlman of Lamar, Mo., and Mrs. Lee Irwin of Castana; five brothers, David Davis of Danbury, Iowa, Lester Davis of Turin, Iowa, Carl Davis of Yucaipa., Calif., Merlin Davis of Castana and Daryl of Kansas City, Mo.; twelve grandchildren, two step-grandchildren and two great grandchildren, and several other relatives and a host of friends. She was preceded in death by her parents, one son Kenneth and three brothers.
