BENNETT SKOW (From the collection of Vivian Norby Andersen) (banner at the top is dated August 26, 1965) Mae Olinger Skow was born September 20, 1892 at Missouri Valley, Iowa, the daughter of William E. and Margaret Kerr Olinger. She was married to Bennett H. Skow on July 8, 1914 at Onawa and they moved to Soldier where they resided until coming to Onawa 27 years ago. Mr. Skow passed away on May 20, 1965. Mrs. Skow had been in failing health for some time and passed away at the Burgess Memorial Hospital on August 18, 1965 at the age of 72 years, 10 months and 28 days. Mrs. Skow was a member of the Trinity Lutheran Church in Onawa, the Trinity Lutheran Church Women, a Past Matron of the Ute Chapter of the Order of the Eastern Star, a member of Queen Esther Chapter O.E.S. of Onawa, Elise Rebekah Lodge and the American Legion Auxiliary of Onawa. Survivors include one daughter, Mrs. (Bethine) Gabriel tweet of New York City, N. Y.; two sons, Gordon Skow of Mapleton and Robert Skow of Toledo, Iowa; eight grandchildren, seven great grandchildren; three sister, Mrs. Pearl Richardson, Modale; Mrs. Harold O. Boe of Onawa and Mrs. Earl Stanfield of North Platte, Neb. She was preceded in death by her parents, one daughter, Barbara Ann; her husband and three brothers, Maurice, Carl and William Funeral services were held Saturday, August 21, 1965 at the Trinity Lutheran Church in Onawa with Pastor Harry C. Sorensen officiating. Dean Roberts sang “Abide With Me” and Mrs. Eugene Baltz was organist. Interment was in Soldier Valley Cemetery at Soldier with arrangements by Pearson Funeral Home. Pallbearers were James Stanfield, Paul Richardson, Karl Zorn, Don Richardson, Howard Richardson and David Skow.
