Agnet Skow was born in Torpen, Nordland, Norway December 28, 1852 and died January 12, 1941 at Soldier, Iowa at the age of 88 years and 15 days. Her parents were Ole and Elizabeth Clemon. She was baptized and confirmed in Norway. At the age of 15 years of age she came tot his country along with her parents and a brother and sister, locating at Rock County, Wisconsin in 1867 and 1870 she came to Soldier in a covered wagon along with her father and 3 brothers. It took them about three weeks by team. The 21st of December, 1870 she was united in marriage to Nels Thoreson. To this union was born 7 children, namely: Clara, Carl, Martin, Halden and Nels of Soldier. One son Nicolis died at the age of 5 years and Theodore died the 16th of December, 1938. Her husband died on May 13, 1885. In July 1888 she was again united in marriage to Arne Skow. To this union was born four children, three boys and one girl: Mrs. Sever Engen, Lawrence and Oliver of Brandt, S.D. and Alfred of Clear Lake, S.D. During most of her life she lived at Soldier, Iowa. The year 1911 she moved with five of her children to Bagley, Minnesota and the year of 1915 she moved to Brandt, S.D., returning to Soldier in 1926, where she has made her home with her daughter, Clara, ever since. She leaves to mourn her death her children, 22 grand children and 17 great grandchildren, one sister, Mrs. Lena Vahler and a host of relatives and friends. Funeral services were held at the Soldier Valley Lutheran Church Tuesday afternoon with Rev. Hoff in charge. Interment was in Soldier Valley Cemetery, Ralph Oldham in charge.
