	Mrs. Goldie Smith, 72, of Ute, and a former resident of Soldier for 
many years, died of a heart attack  December 30 in Sioux City.
	Mrs. Goldie Smith, daughter of Andrew and Mary Mallum, was born April 
20, 1887 at Oslo, Norway.   On January 19, 1910 she was married to Orville 
Smith at Ute.  
	She departed this life at the home of her daughter in  Sioux City on 
December 30, 1959.
	She is survived by her husband, Orville of Ute; two daughters, one of 
Racine, Wis. and another of Sioux City; one son of Rochester, Minn.; one 
sister, Mrs. Tillie Chamberlain of Mapleton; two brothers, Arthur Mallum of 
Wakefield, Nebr and Severt Mallum of Harlan, Iowa, and six grandchildren and 
four great grandchildren.
	She was preceded in death by her parents, two brothers and four 
sisters.  She also leaves a host of other relatives and friends.
