LaVerne A. "Shorty" SOLBERG, Moorhead, Iowa, passed away at Burgess Memorial 
Hospital in Onawa, Iowa on June 16, 1980. 

He was born in Willow Township near Moorhead on November 12, 1903 the son of 
Oscar and Hilda HEDUM SOLBERG. 

He married Alice ULVEN on November 3, 1923, at Onawa. 

Survivors are his wife, Alice, of Moorhead; a daughter, Mrs. Earl (Joyce) 
BALLANTYNE of Moorhead; four sons, Donald and Gordon both of Moorhead, Russell 
of Hawarden, Iowa and Jerry of Postville, Iowa; one sister Mrs. Hollis 
HAMILTON of Salix, Iowa and two brothers, Raymond of Elk Point, South Dakota 
and William of Denison, Iowa. There are 26 grandchildren and 16 great-
grandchildren. He was preceded in death by his parents, three sisters and two 
brothers.
