Solberg, a resident of the Moorhead community most of her life, passed away at the Elmwood nursing home in Onawa last Saturday. Funeral services were held at Soldier Lutheran Church Tuesday, July 12 with Pastor Harry C. Sorensen officiating. Mrs. Donald Solberg was soloist and sang “In The Garden” and “What A Friend We Have In Jesus.” Mrs. Charles Kratz was accompanist. Interment was in Spring Valley cemetery at Moorhead with arrangements by Pearson Funeral Home. Bearers were Russell, Donald, Gerald and Gordon Solberg, Gary Kunze and Earl Ballantyne. Mrs. Hilda O. Solberg was born November 21, 1876 in Norway and passed from this life on Saturday, July 6, 1966 at the age of 89 years, 7 months and 18 days She was the daughter of Lars and Dorthea Hedum. Mrs. Solberg came to this country at the age of five years with her parents and had been a resident of Monona county all of her life. On April 3, 1894 she was united in marriage with Oscar Solberg at Soldier. Mr. Solberg passed away June 8, 1951. She was a resident of the Moorhead community until 1952 when she came to make her home with her daughter, Mrs. Hollis Hamilton in Onawa. For the past five years, she made her home at Elmwood nursing home. She was a member of Soldier Lutheran Church. Survivors include three daughters, Mrs. Nels Berg and Mrs. Hollis Hamilton of Onawa; Mrs. John Taylor of Salix; three sons, L. A. Solberg of Moorhead, Raymond Solberg of Elk Point, S. D. and William Solberg of Denison; 16 grandchildren, 30 great grandchildren, three great great grandchildren; one brother, Edwin Hedum of Hartington, Neb.; one sister, Mrs. Minnie Strain of Seattle, Wash.; and a number of relatives anvd(sic) friends. She was preceded in death by her parents, her husband, a daughter, Mrs. Lillian Taylor and two sons, Levi and Glen.
