     CALLED BY DEATH		(From the collection of Vivian Norby Andersen)

	Chris Andrew Steen, 79, Mapleton, long time resident of Soldier and 
Ute areas, passed away at a Sioux City hospital on Wednesday, June 14 after 
several weeks illness.
	
	Chris was born in Norway on December 4, 1892 and came to the United 
States at the age of 15.  He married Anna Nelson March 3, 1915.
	Survivors include the widow; one daughter, one son, one sister, Mrs. 
Inga DeLap of California; one brother, Hans of Soldier and several brothers 
and sisters in Norway.
