Most of his life was spent in farming, but several years ago was forced to give up the occupation he loved so well due to illness. Ole was a bachelor and had served in World War 1. He was a member of the Soldier Legion Post and Soldier Lutheran Church. Funeral services were held at Soldier Lutheran Church Saturday at 2:00 p.m. with Pastor Maynard Moen officiating. Mrs. Norman C. Hanson was soloist and sang “My Jesus I Love Thee” and “The Lord’s Prayer”, accompanied at the organ by Mrs. Harry Andersen. Interment was in Soldier Valley Cemetery and was conducted by American Legion Post No. 462 of Soldier. Pallbearers were World War 1 veterans, Art Olson, Ervin Serverson, William Lee, Christ T. Olson, Dolphin Clemon and Clyde Dickinson. Arrangements were by Pearson Funeral Home of Soldier. Ole Swain, son of Nels and Lena Swain, was born at Soldier, Iowa April 18, 1894 and passed away in Omaha on February 8, 1962 at the age of 67 years, 9 months and 20 days. He grew up in the Soldier community where he attended the local schools and became a member of Soldier Lutheran Church through baptism and confirmation. He served in World War 1 and was a member of Soldier Legion Post No. 462. He was single and most of his life was spent in farming. Left to mourn his passing are two brothers, Norval of Lynnwood, Calif., and Roy of Soldier, a number of nieces and nephews and a host of other relatives and friends. He was preceded in death by his parents, two sisters, Beatrice and Bertha, and three brothers, Ingval* Peter and Arthur.
