Swain, 66 of Lynwood, Calif., a former resident of the Soldier community, passed away on Saturday at a hospital in Lynwood. He had been ill for some time and it had been known that he could not recover. His body has been returned to Soldier and funeral services will be held this Thursday at 2:00 p.m. at Soldier Lutheran Church. Pastor Harry Sorensen will officiate. Interment will be in Soldier Valley cemetery beside his wife. Pearson Funeral Home is in charge of arrangements. Mr. Swain was born July 22, 1898 at Soldier, the son of Mr. and Mrs. Nels Swain. He farmed near Soldier and Ute and moved to California about 12 years ago. He married Olga Olson of Soldier in 1922 at Onawa. She died in 1946. Survivors include three daughters, Mrs. Ralph Perry of Monrovia, Calif., Mrs. Ed Garey of Schwenksville, Pa., and Miss Colleen Swain of Lynwood, Calif.; five sons, Willard of Anaheim, Calif., Myron of Hollydale, Calif., Cleon of Fort Collins, Colo., Milton of Storm Lake, Iowa and Ronald of Artesia, Calif. and one brother, Roy of Soldier.
