Bernard R. Thrift							
	1996

	Bernard R. “Bernie” Thrift, died at Burgess Memorial Hospital in 
Onawa, Iowa Monday, March 11, 1996, at the age of 88 years.
	He was born November 14, 1907, at Leedey, Oklahoma Territory, the son 
of Perry and Bettie (Harms) Thrift.  He came to Blencoe in 1918 and graduated 
from Blencoe High School in 1927.   On December 26, 1935, he married Lettie 
Bradley in Toledo, Ohio
	
	Survivors include his wife, Lettie; four sons, Robert and Claire of 
Masonville, CO, Perry and Sharron of Whiting, Thomas and Michele of San 
Francisco, CA, and John and Elizabeth of Bastrop, TX; three daughters and 
their husbands, Frances and Darrell Nuzum and Judy and Charles Martinez, all 
of Omaha, NE, and Joyce and Charles Bentley of Onawa; fifteen grandchildren 
and twenty great grandchildren; a sister, Josephine Alexander of Onawa; a 
brother Lyle of Fallon, NV; two brothers-in-law, Marvin Hull and Malvern Aust 
and many nieces, nephews, step-grandchildren and step-great grandchildren.
	He was preceded in death by his parents and two sisters, Mary Hull and 
Margaret Aust.
	Funeral Services were held at 1:30 p.m. Thursday, March 14, 1996, at 
the First Congregational United Church of Christ, Onawa, Iowa.
	Interment was in Onawa Cemetery, Onawa, Iowa, with arrangements by 
Pearson Funeral Home, Onawa.
