Sophie Torgerson Laid To Rest	(From the collection of Vivian Norby Andersen)

	Sophie Torgerson, 90, a longtime resident of Soldier, Iowa passed away 
at Burgess Memorial Hospital in Onawa, Iowa on February 13, 1974.  She was 
born in Aurskog, Norway on September 18, 1883, the daughter of Kasper and 
Karen Mikkelrud.
	 She was united in marriage to Martin Torgerson on February 27, 1904 
at Soldier, Iowa.  He preceded her in death on December 4, 1970
	Survivors are one daughter, Mrs. Sam (Ethel) Sorensen of Moorhead, 
Iowa and one son, Alvin Torgerson, of Onawa, Iowa.  There are eleven 
grandchildren, thirty-nine great grandchildren, and two great, great 
grandchildren.  She was preceded in death by her parents, her husband and one 
son, Marion.
