She had been an invalid since suffering a stroke several months ago. Mrs. Wangberg was a fine Christian woman, one who, like her husband had devoted her life to the work of the Lord. Her husband and two sons are ministers in the Lutheran faith. Funeral services were held from the Soldier Lutheran Church Monday, December 28 at 2:00 o’clock with Rev. V. T. Jordahl of Mason City officiating. Burial was in the Soldier Valley cemetery under the direction of the Oldham Funeral Home. Hilda Oline Norby was born at Urskog, Norway, on September 18, 1872. At the age of seven she emigrated to America with her parents, Gunerius and Maren Norby, and settled near Soldier, Iowa where she grew to womanhood. She was confirmed in the Soldier Lutheran Church. On June 28, 1907, she was united in marriage with Pastor Johan O. Wangberg. They established their first home at Mohall, North Dakota, later moving to Irwin, Iowa, Bowman, North Dakota, Rolfe, Iowa, and Otteson, Iowa. In March of 1953 she suffered a stroke which left her an invalid. Since August of this year she and her husband have made their home in Council Bluffs, Iowa, with their daughter, Martha. She passed away suddenly on Christmas eve, 1953. Surviving are her husband, two daughters: Martha of Council Bluffs, and Judith (Mrs. Harvey King) of Nickerson, Kansas, and two sons, who are pastors, Orlando at Frost, Minn., and Reuben at Webster, South Dakota; two sisters, Mrs. C. J. Rustin of Soldier, and Mrs. O. L. Larson of Dunlap, Iowa; three brothers: Ole and Henry Norby of Soldier and Edwin Norby of Little Sioux. Eleven grandchildren also survive.
