J. McENIRY Bishop Hayes Presides at High Mass Mr McEniry Had Lived in County Over 70 Years. William J. McENIRY, 89, pioneer Monroe county farmer and livestock dealer, died at his home in Melrose Friday. The Most Reverend Bishop Ralph L. HAYES of Davenport presided at the solemn requiem high mass held at St. Patrick's church in Melrose this morning. Celebrant of the mass was the Rev. John B. McENIRY. The Rev. Paul ALBERS was deacon, the Rev. H.B. GEERS was sub-deacon, and the Rev. C. D. MANNHARDT was master of ceremonies. The sermon was by the Rev. R. J. McGRATH, pastor of St. Patrick's. Burial was in Mt. Calvary cemetery. Mr. McENIRY was born in Aug. 26, 1861 in Charleville, County Cork, Ireland. He came to the the United States when four years old and was a resident of Monroe county for more than 70 years. For the last half-century he had lived in Melrose. He married Mary HANNAM Feb. 15 1887. She survives, with eight children. The children are Miss Nellie McENIRY, at home; Matt, Joseph and William A. McENIRY, all of Melrose; Mrs. James FLATTERY, Winfield, Kans.; the Rev. John M. McENIRY, principal of St. Ambrose Academy at Davenport; Miss Mary McENIRY of Northwestern State college, Natchitoches, La.; and Miss Margaret McENIRY, South Dakota state supervisor of home economics, Pierre.
