Rudy was born on December 5, 1908, to Walter and Bertha (Navert) Kellenbarger. On February 21, 1935, she was united in marriage to A. Dale Shelly in Rockport, Missouri. She moved from Loveland, Colorado in 1975, to Sheridan in March of 2001. Mrs. Shelly graduated from Red Oak High School, Red Oak Iowa in 1926. She attended Cedar Falls College and graduated with a teaching certificate in 1927. Ruby was a homemaker and a substitute teacher. She volunteered for twenty years at Mekee Medical Center. Ruby farmed in Emerson, Iowa for many years and operated and owned Emerson Ariel. She loved making crafts, traveling, and was a licenced pilot, and was former Iowa Flying Farmer Queen. She was a member of the Mt. View Presbyterian Church. Ruby was preceded in death by her husband A. Dale Shelly, a daughter, Darlene Stright, two sisters, and one great grandson Zach Shelly. Ruby is survived by her three sons, Robert and Donna Shelly of Sheridan; Gary and Fran Shelly of Ft. Collins, Colorado, James and Jean Shelly of Buffalo, Wyoming; and her ten grandchildren; and five great grandchildren. Services will be held Friday, October 19, 2001, at Mt. View Presbyterian Church in Loveland, Colorado with Viegut Funeral Home. Burial will take place in Red Oak, Iowa, Monday 22, 2001. Local arrangements were with Kane Funeral Home.
