Rummells, Sr., died Sept. 11, 1905. She was born at Lewisbury, York county, Penn., and had attained the age of 76 years, 10 months, and 29 days. Was united in marriage April 7, 1851, with J.W. Rummells of Lewisbury, Penn. Her maiden name was Amanda Squibb. To this union were born eight children, seven of whom survive her to mourn her loss. They are: Henry Rummells, of West Branch, Mrs W.V. Few, of Lone Tree, Mrs. Rob Stepp, West Branch, John Rummells, of West Liberty, Susie, Lillie, and Silas, of Nichols, and Mrs. Emma Cookson, who preceded her in death August 26, 1889. She has twenty-five grandchildren and five great-grandchildren living. She became a member of the Evangelical Lutheran church April 7, 1861, and was a member of that church until she moved to Iowa, and later in life she became a member of the M.E. church of Nichols. Funeral services were held at the M.E. church Sept. 14, at 2 o'clock, Rev. H.C. Millice officiating. Burial in cemetery north of West Liberty.
