She had been bedfast for three weeks. Caroline Hechtner was born in Illinois, Aprl 3, 1862, but had been a resident of here nearly all her life. On March 2, 1885, she was married to Robert Thomas Shannon who preceded her in death, Dec. 7, 1918. She was a member fo the Nichols Methodist Episcopal church. Survivors are three sons, Frederick J and Harry E of Waterloo, Lloyd W of St. Louis; two daughters, Mrs. A.L. Lindee of Muscatine and Mrs. C.R. Metcalf of Nichols; five sisters, Mrs. William Sauer of Denver, Co., Mrs. Eliza Slade of Des Moines, Mrs. Mary Hector of Avaco, Mrs. Emma Hector of Walnut, Miss Alfreda Hechtner of Jackson, Mich.; one brother Charles Hechtner of Sac City; and nine grandchildren. One son died in infancy. The body will remain at the home where funeral services will be conducted Tuesday afternoon at 1:30 with the Rev. H.C. Druse of the Nichols Methodist Episcopal church in charge. Burial will be made in Oak Ridge cemetery at West Liberty. Henry Kirchner is the funeral director in charge.
