Berry Founder of the Berry Poultry Farm Mrs. A.A. Berry, who was founder of the Berry Poultry farm in 1901, died Wednesday morning, thus marking the end of an active life in business, church and home. The funeral service is to be held at 1:30 o'clock Friday afternoon at the United Presbyterian church with Dr. C.E. Hawthorne in charge. Active pallbearers will be Walter Duncan, Roy Duncan, Will Irwin, Dean Posten, Robert Hawley and J Will Anderson, with honorary bearers, P.W. Frehse, Elmer Akey, J. Mont McKee, John Swanson, Virgil McAlpin, William A. Turner, W.G. Dunn and Frank Pfander. Mrs. Berry was reared in eastern Iowa, born in a log cabin over 81 years ago. She taught school and later attended Amity college at College Springs, where she met Andrew A. Berry. They were married in 1893, and lived on a farm near College Springs before coming to Clarinda. Four children survive, including Mrs. R.E. Duff and Mrs. C.S. Hausen of Clarinda, Ernest of Newton, Kan. and George of Quincy, Ill; also to brothers, Will Elder of Fillmore, Sask, Canada, and Ernest Elder of Chicago, Ill. Mrs. Berry had been visiting in Illinois before Thanksgiving, and her illness caused a rapid decline following her return home. Both her boys, who had been on business in Oklahoma, were called last weekend when it seemed inevitable that she could not improve.
