William Hinton Obiturary, Des Moines, IA, 26 Aug 1951: WILLIAM HINTON RITES TUESDAY Services for William A. Hinton, 83, of 3849 Columbia st., will be at 3 p.m. Tuesday at Hamilton's funeral home. Mr. Hinton, a resident of Des Moines 67 years, died of a stroke Saturday at his home. He was born in Illinois, and worked for the National Machine Co. for many years before retiring two years ago. Surviving are his widow, Mr. Lucy Hinton; one daughter, Vivian M. Hinton of Des Moines; two sons, C. Frank, Oak Ridge, Tenn., and Verne W., Des Moines; and three grandchildren, E. Dwight Hinton, Lincoln, Neb., Charles F. Hinton, jr., Colo. and Patricia Ann Hinton, Des Moines. All were grieved to learn of the death of William A. Hinton of 3849 Columbia st., on Saturday afternoon, August the 25th. The last rites were held Tuesday at 3 p.m. for him at Hamilton's Funeral home, with Rev. Harry Herlein officiating. He was a member of Miller Memorial Evangelical United Brethren church. He was employed by the C. C. Taft Co. for a number of years and also by the National Machine Co. He is survived by his widow, Lucy A.; one daughter, Vivian M.' two sons, Verne W. of Des Moines and Frank of Oak Ridge, Tennesse. One son, Arthur N. preceded him in death February 4th, 1951. There are three grandchildren who survive him: E. Dwight Hinton of Lincoln, Nebraska; Charles F. Jr., of Colo, Iowa and one granddaughter, Patricia Ann of Des Moines. Interment was at the Masonic section of Glendale cemetery. C. Frank Hinton of Oak Ridge, Tenn., and Charles F. Hinton, jr. of Colo, Ia., returned to their respective homes Friday after attending the funeral of their father and grandfather, William Hinton.
