HE RECALLS TWO MEN During period of Consciousness He Recalls Two Men Telling Him to Hold Up Hands and remembers Fight, James "Crip" Jensen, 40, 1430 Avenue G, who was arrested Tuesday night and held in connection with the shooting of Sam Christensen at his home, 927 Avenue I, was released from police court next morning on furnishing bonds anounting to $1,000. Christensen, who was in a serious condition in Mercy hospital, was able to talk for a few minutes Wednesday morning, when he said that two masked men were on the porch at his home when he opened the door in answer to a knock. Both men were masked and one told Christensen to hold up his hands. Instead of complying the injured man says he grabbed for his assailant's gun and received a point blank charge in the chest. The men ran away, according to Christensen, who says he followed them for a few yards, but growing weak from pain and loss of blood, he was forced to give up the chase and return to his house, where he immediately called police. Jensen was arreseted following information furnished police by the wounded man who was semi-conscious at the time and unable to give a clear accoutn of what had happened. It appears the two men had quarreled over some pigeons a few days ago and this probably led Christensen to place suspicion on the other man. Jensen is well known in his neighborhood and reported to be of excellent character, never having been known to be absent from his work at th erailroads or wandering the streets at night. He told police that he spent the evening of the shooting in the company of his divorced wife with whom he expects to effect a reconciliation. Jensen says he can produce a perfect alibit as to his movements. Police are working on the theory that the shooting is the result of a holdup during which the bandits got scared after meeting with resistance from their intended victim. Christensen had more than $90 in his pockets when he arrived at Mercy hospital. He is 60 years old and is reputed to be worth a considerable fortune in money and property. Christensen was reported by hospital authorities Wednesday afternoon to be in a serious condition. Fears are entertained for his life. He has one step daughter and a divorced wife living in Council Bluffs. Additional Comments: "Sam" Christensen was actually Soren Christensen who was born in Hornum Aalborg Denmark in 1863. He worked for the Chicago and North Western Railroad as a car cleaner.
