Deceased came to Iowa when quite a boy and has made the Hawkeye state his home since then. He was eduacated at Wesleyan University at Mt. Pleasant, Iowa and in 1870 married America Fountain, daughter of J.S. Fountain of California (Junction). To them six children were born, one dying in infancy, and the eldest daughter,wife of G.C. Peacock, died some 10 years ago. The others are Mrs Ida Perkins and Mrs. Mae Jones of Loveland, Mrs. George Palmer of Missouri Valley, and on only son Horace who was called from his studies of the applied arts in the State University at Iowa City, to his father's dying bedside a week ago, but returned to receive his diploma as a civil engineer, on Wednesday, the day his father died. He and his wife, a former Miss Burke who he met at the university, arrived home Thursday to attend the funeral services which will occur Sunday at 11 a.m. from the M.E. churh of Loveland, and interment in Missouri Valley cemetery. Mr. Lake engage in various pursuits during his 30 years residence in Loveland. He was a member of the A.F. & A.M. for 30 years and at the time of his death held the office of post master of Loveland.
