      Death of Miss Alice E. Tostevin
   Miss Alices E. Tostevin, daughter of Mr. and
Mrs. Thomas Tostevin, died yesterday, June 17th,
after a brief illness, in the seventeenth year
of her age. Another of the pure, sweet spirits
of earth has gone to its rest. Miss Tostevin 
was born and reared in our city. She had grown
to beautiful young womanhood, among those who
now mourn her early departure. Refined, loving,
and beautiful, she was a favorite with all; and
more that this, she was a sincere christian.
Nearly a year and a half ago, she gave her young
life to the Saviour, and since that time she
has been growing in the graces of a beautiful
christian character. She enjoyed in her last
illness the sustaining grace of Our Lord, Jesus
Christ. To her it was given to experience that
"though I walk through the valley of the shadow
of death, I will fear no road, for Thou art with
me; Thy rod and Thy staff they comfort me". In
her sickness as in health, and still more
abundantly, Jesus was precious. Her yound life
is gone out--not in darkness, but as the
morning star is lost in brightness. So she has
disappeard in the glory of heaven.
   The home is left sad and lonely, but not hope-
less. Our loved ones are being gathered to that 
brightest home, and our abiding place is not here,
but we hope to join them soon above.
   The funeral services will be from the Broadway
M. E. Church, today at 4 o'clock p. m. The friends
of the family are invited to attend.
