The Correctionville News (Correctionville, Iowa) March 16, 1911
Ida Grove, Ia, March 10
Edwin C. Long and Miss Elsie P. Witt of Sac County yesterday made up their minds
to elope and they had barely crossed the county border before the outraged
father was on his trusty steed and in full pursuit.  However by doubling in
their tracks after reaching Correctionville near where the would-be bride has an
uncle they eluded the father and yesterday afternoon they appeared in this city
and the young man visited the court house to secure a licence.  Clerk Snell had
been warned to be on the outlook for the young couple and the father who had
telephoned from Cushing was called up.  He drove across country and took his
daughter home by train.
