DAVENPORT GAZETTE

From the Iowa City Standard:
We have now before us the first number of this neatly printed paper, published 
at Davenport, Scott county, Iowa, edited by Alfred Sanders, Esq., late of 
Cincinnati. From the ability exhibited in the editorial columns of this 
number, and the reputation of Mr. Sanders as a writer, the Whigs of Iowa may 
confidently expect to find in him an able and faithful supporter. We hope that 
his paper may receive the liberal patronage that it merits justly deserve, and 
that success may crown his laudable efforts.
