OBITUARY, Davenport Democrat, 3 Dec 1949:
Harry W. Matkins, 312 West Ninth Street, died at his home at 7:30 p.m. Friday after an 
illness of four months.

Born in Macon, Mo., Oct. 8, 1878, Mr. Matkins had resided in Davenport for the last 35 
years.  He had been employed at Atlas cigar store.

He is survived by his wife, Ethel; a stepson, Emory Parker, Davenport, and a granddaughter,
Mrs. Marie McCurdy, Davenport.  The body was taken to Halligan funeral home, where services 
will be held at 2 p.m. Monday.  Burial will be in Mt. Calvary cemetery.
