Died on the 14th ult., in the city of Davenport, Iowa, Mr. Gilbert M’Keown, in the
76th year of his age. He was a native of Winchester, Va., and there united with the
church, in the 19th year of his age, under the ministry of Rev. Dr. Hill. Early in
life he removed to Pittsburgh, Pa., and was there, engaged in merchandizing many
years. Thence, after a heavy loss by fire, he removed to Cincinnati, thence to this
place, in the year 1840, casting in his lot with the pioneers of the West…
