Pittsburg Headlight, Feb 7, 1969, Pittsburg, Kansas 
Mrs. Kate E. WILSON, 91, widow of the late Prof. I.G. WILSON, long head of the 
English department at Kansas State College of Pittsburg, died at her home 
February 6, 1969. She had been in failing health for the past year. 
Mrs. WILSON was born in Galland's Grove, Iowa, September 3, 1877. She 
graduated from the Woodbine Iowa Normal School in 1898. She married in 1903 
and the couple came to Pittsburg in 1921 when Professor WILSON was to take 
over the post at the college.
Mrs. WILSON taught school 10 years in Iowa and Nebraska. Later in life she 
decided to further her education and graduated from Kansas State College with 
a bachelor degree in 1928 and was in the same class with her daughter, 
Eleanor, now the wife of Ray Heady, outdoors editor of the Kansas City Star. 
Still not content with that level of education, Mrs. WILSON continued as a KSC 
student and received her masters degree in 1930. She was a member of Kappa 
Delta Pi, an honorary scholastic fraternity and was a mother patroness of 
Alpha Sigma Alpha Sorority. She also had a gold seal certificate in religious 
education. Professor WILSON died here July 16, 1958.
A membership was held in the Reorganized Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day 
Saints and of the Faculty Wives Club of the College.
In addition to Mrs. Heady, Mrs. WILSON is survived by another daughter, Mrs. 
Roy (Esther) Heller of Pittsburg; three grandchildren and four great 
grandchildren.
Funeral services will be conducted with Elders T.W. Bath and A.M. Comstock 
officiating. Burial will be in Highland Park Cemetery, Pittsburg.
