All rights reserved. http://www.usgwarchives.net/copyright.htm ************************************************* Honorable S. BAGG was born in Lanesborough, Massa-chusetts, August 6, 1823. His early education was received at a private school in his native town, and completed by spending three years at Lenox Academy. Read law with William T.Filley, and, after being admitted, removed to Elyria, Lorain County, Ohio, in May, 1845, where he practiced law for nearly twelve years, when, in March, 1857, he located in Waterloo, Iowa, and entered into partnership with Honorable H.B.Allen, which partnership was continued foe ten years. He was appointed A.Q.M., with rank of captain, in U.S.A. Nov. 23, 1862, and served until December, 865--- was breveted major for efficient service. in November,1868, he was elected the first Judge of the Ninth District Circuit Court, which position he filled with so much credit to himself, and general satisfaction, that he was re-elected in 1872.
